InSite Advanced Location Module

The Advanced Location Module performs advanced location algorithms to obtain source locations through media with complex velocity models.

  • Application of advanced ray-tracing algorithms with complex velocity structures to locate microseismic events within a 3D volume.
  • Travel time can be calculated using either full wavefront construction or a fast two-point ray-tracing algorithm.
  • Works on user-defined three-dimensional velocity structures.
  • Fast two-point ray-tracing is optimised for use in horizontally-layered media for real-time processing and can be integrated with standard algorithms in the Location Module to increase efficiency further.
  • Source locations are determined using an error-space minimisation algorithm utilising P and S-wave arrival time and direction information.
